Supplementary Table S1. Species names, accession numbers and genomic fragments used for the concatenated phylogenetic analysis.

Supplementary Fig. S1. Phylogenetic relationships of Bursaphelenchus paraleoni n. sp. and aphelenchid nematodes based on a concatenated dataset (18S rDNA + 28S D2-D3 rDNA). The 10001st Bayesian tree was inferred under the GTR + I + G model. Aphelenchoides besseyi served as the outgroup species. Posterior probability values exceeding 50% are given on appropriate clades. The new species is in bold font.

Supplementary Fig. S2 Phylogenetic relationships of Bursaphelenchus paraleoni n. sp. and Bursaphelenchus nematodes based on the full length ITS region. The 10001st Bayesian tree inferred from ITS under the GTR + I + G model (ln L = –46862.2556; freqA = 0.1886; freqC = 0.2114; freqG = 0.2804; freqT = 0.3196; R(a) = 0.9721; R(b) = 2.9705; R(c) = 1.5161; R(d) = 0.7385; R(e) = 3.2266; R(f) = 1.0000; Pinva = 0.0740; Shape = 0.9170). Aphelenchoides besseyi EF371500 served as the outgroup species. Posterior probability values exceeding 50% are given on appropriate clades. The new species is in bold font.
